All signers, including witnesses, must present a current or issued (not expired) within the last 5 years:
● Driver’s license
● Passport
● ID card issued by any state
● A valid consular ID issued by a consulate from the applicant’s country of citizenship
● ID card issued by a federally recognized tribal government
This is required by Texas law and is not at the discretion of the notary.
No. We do not draft, select, or give advice concerning legal documents. This is an unlawful practice called the “unlicensed practice of law” and is punishable by law.
Any document requiring an oath or affirmation must be signed in our presence. A document requiring an acknowledgment of a signature may have been signed prior to our appearance but in order for the acknowledgment to be made, the signer must again appear before us to acknowledge that he or she signed the document.
No. We are not an attorney and will only complete a notarial certificate which is already printed on the document.
No. These are recordable documents, and a certified copy can only be issued by the governmental agency that is a custodian of these records. However, a Texas notary has the authority to certify copies of original documents that are not recordable in the public records.
No. Notarial certificates must bear the date the notarization took place.
We do not notarize the following documents:
● Immigration documents
● Blank or incomplete documents
● Documents not requiring a signature
Yes, as long as we can communicate with the signer directly in English. There needs to be a notary language in English on the document for us to notarize you. If a notary statement is not included on the document for us to sign, we can add it.
Yes, all supplies are cleaned and sanitized in between appointments. Due to the global pandemic, we take In-Home appointments at the clients’ discretion. Masks are required to be worn by all signers and notaries during the duration of the signing appointment. Arrangements can be made for an alternative signing location at the discretion of the client.
Yes. First, we must ensure that the documents are read to the person and that they clearly understand. Then they must show a willingness to sign the document.
